How to Figure Out What God Wants You to Do – I’m Serious

It’s OK! I know the decision is HUGE! But God’s got it and He is HUGER!!! And I believe He wants to help you, that He actually wants you to know what He wants you to do.

So let me share with you something that has been helpful for me when I’ve had to make tough choices. It’s this…you can write this down.

S3ALR1ID

What’s that?

S3ALR1ID

This is what it means.

S3 – Silence 3 – At every moment there are four voices that are talking at you. 1) Yours, 2) Others, 3) God’s, and 4) Satan’s. Silence Three of them. Get quiet and tell the voices to be quiet until there is only one left (I’ll let you guess which three to silence!)

Once you feel like you have quieted the voices down.

ALR – Ask, Listen, Repeat – Ask God whatever you want to ask Him then listen. If he doesn’t speak, usually the other three voices start talking again and you have to start over. That is what the repeat part is for.

Keep doing that until you hear something that you know isn’t You or Others or Satan. Then,

1ID – at First Impulse Do – whatever you hear, trust it. It’s not always the right thing, but it is more times than not. And if it’s not, God will let you know soon enough.

This is also important to remember: God will never tell you to do something that is contrary to Scripture or contrary to your true self. So it is important when you hear something to run it through the lens of Scripture, and share it with some people you trust.

If all systems are Go, you can be pretty confident that you know what God wants you to do.
