Lady, God Loves You!

Lady, God Loves You!

So, last week we talked about surrender, that terrifying word that means giving up our lives and living for something greater than ourselves.

Shew, that rivals walking to the bathroom at night in the dark, am I right?

If you joined me last week, we went to go and talk about purpose when God completely re-routed us. And Lady, if that was for you and you felt the Holy Spirit nudge you, I am praying for you. Know that you are seen by God and known by Him. Know that He spoke to you through me, He is pursuing you and He loves you. You are wanted. You are being recruited! Say yes! And then dive into your beautiful, God-given purpose. We’ll be here waiting on ya (;

Okay, so one thing I want to point out real quick about purpose is that a lot of times we as females think we are competing for it. We think that we have to do the same thing as someone else only better. We think that there are like 5 purposes and if we are not good at one of those mainstream things- nay, the BEST at one of those mainstream things what are we even doing with our lives??

I want us to re-focus on what we love and are passionate about and ultimately what we were made to do. It does not have to be something normal or even celebrated by our culture! It is going to be something unique to how God created you. Purpose-envy is telling God, “Hey, what the world, why didn’t I get the IG model purpose?? Why did You go and give me this rando purpose??” The Bible addresses this in two letters that Paul wrote, one to the Church in Corinth (Corinthians) and one to the church in Rome (Romans). Clearly this is not a new issue, even before Insta, people where dealing with some major purpose envy. In Romans chapter 9, verses 19 through 20 Paul talks about God being the potter and us the clay and how ridiculous it is to think of actual clay talking back to the potter like- “Hey make me a plate, I don’t want to be one of those useless platters.” And in 1st Corinthians chapter 12, verses 12 through 31 Paul talks about us being all parts of one body (the church) and how ridiculous it would be for like an arm to look at a foot and say, what do I need you for? Because like, walking is nice.

So, first, we are not competing with other people for our purpose. We are not. Listen love, you were created with a purpose, with gifts and talents. There is only one you, you are a one-of-a-kind cocktail of awesomeness and there is no one out there like you. No one can live your purpose like you can and you cannot live anyone else’s as good as they can. We are not in a competition for first.

If we were comparing this to a sport it would be swimming or running. You are trying to obtain your Personal Record. This is not soccer where you are trying to be better than the other team. You are being the best you there is and you cannot be the best someone else, because they are them.

You tracking with me babe?

Okay so, once we get this concept into our beautiful, yet thick skulls we have to understand the TRUTH that backs this up.

That truth is that YOU are intelligently created in the image of the almighty, all powerful creator God.

The book of Genesis, chapter 1, verses 26 and 27 say, “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

Okay so He created humankind, but how do you know that you are not just an accident. That the almighty God didn’t just look away for a second and you came into the world by mistake?

Because Psalm 139 pertains to you. Even though the Bible was not written to us it was written and preserved all of this time for us and it says, “For You (God) formed me in my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.” Psalm 139:13-16 NKJV

God sees everything, everywhere, all the time. You are not hidden from Him. He hears you, sees you, desires you.

The third thing we must come to understand is that our worth and identity lies in Him. If we are followers of Christ we have died to our old nature and are now alive in Christ. The letter that Paul wrote to the Romans is chalked full of this theology, I challenge you to go read the whole letter but at least today go and read chapter 6 -it is GOLD, babe.

So, you are a brand-new creation, alive in Christ. There is no longer any wrath that will be poured out on you, Jesus absorbed all of that for you on the cross. So now you are free from sin and a slave to righteousness (we also mentioned that last week when chatting about surrender).

Your identity is no longer in Instagram likes or social media profile followers. It is no longer in your outward appearance but who dwells inside of you- the Spirit that raised Jesus Christ, Son of God, lover of your soul, FROM THE GRAVE (Happy Easter btw). Romans chapter 8, verse 11. (See, ya just have to read all of Romans, it’s SO. GOOD.)

Okay, so we are not competing for limited spots on the purpose roster, we are created by an intelligent designer, we are not mistakes, and our identity lies in Jesus Christ.

Are you feeling better yet? Shew, I’m feeling great. Like Praise the LORD.

Next week I want to talk to you about gifts and talents. What happens when we burry them deep down and are too afraid to step out and use them and also how to figure out what they are.

But for now, I think we have covered a lot and have enough to ponder on and revel in for one day. So, I will sign off and see you next week.

I love you Lady, but so much more than that- GOD loves you Lady.
