Jesus is Okay with Your Doubt

Jesus is Okay with Your Doubt

These are interesting times.

Confusion, fear, loss, anxiety.

Most day I wonder what more I could be doing and feel like I’m just not doing enough. I have so much doubt about so many things.

Doubt about my health and the health of my family, doubt about my finances, the finances of my family and friends, the finances of our church. I worry about the future of local businesses I love.

Doubt that seeps in is a powerful demon. It seeks to steal our joy, our hope, our vision for tomorrow.

But Jesus has a better plan.

Jesus’ disciples, followers, enemies had doubt, too.

When Lazarus died it brought it all out. Right there in front of everyone. Couldn’t Jesus had stopped this whole thing!? Did he not really have power over death?

John 11 reads, “But some of them said, ‘Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?’

One of my favorite parts of the Jesus story is here in this text. He isn’t mad for their confusion “could not he who opened the eyes of a blind man saved him.” He moved towards them, raised Lazarus for the dead, and proves who has the final work over the darkness.

Put this deep in your heart, Jesus is not mad at your doubt – he is moved by it.

You were not created for these things. Anxiety. Fear. Doubt. Sickness. Death.

Also know this. JESUS is okay with you HAVING those things – but he is not KEEPING those things.

Jesus has a better plan.

We will eventually come out of this mess. Come out on the other side of this darkness. Until then, we will just keep believing that Jesus will get victory in this valley. He will simply say, “come out” and getting the victory over darkness.
