A Little Help From My Friends.

A Little Help From My Friends.

I have a friend who has a simple three point strategy to well living. Eat healthy. Sleep well. Make friends.

That’s it? That’s the secret?

Now, before you dismiss it, you might want to know that his job title is Chief Wellness Officer of a major medical institution. The dude knows what he is talking about.

Honestly, you do, too.

You and I know that eating nutritious stuff and sleeping a solid eight or so hours a night is good for the body. Do we do it all the time? No. But we at least know better.

But what about the third point. The making friends point. What is that? Well, it turns out that the best indicator for quality and longevity of life is the quality and depth of ones community. It’s scientifically proven.

So how is yours? How connected are you? Are you like me and often feel isolated? Lonely? Like an outsider? Like I don’t fit in? Like I have no place where I belong?

It’s unhealthy I tell you.

You and I need to find a place to belong. We don’t need a lot of friends; we need quality ones. Deep ones.

So what does a guy like me need to do?

Well, first you got to be a friend to make one. Start there. Be a friend. Commit to showing up. As another friend of mine says: “Relationships = Time + Contact.”

That’s how relationships happen. Good ones happen over time and over lots and lots and lots of contact. That’s your health tip for the day.

Eat. Sleep. And be friendly.

You’ll be feeling better in no time.
