I feel like I’m not alone in saying the last year has been pretty crazy. Our whole world has been thrown for a loop, people’s jobs have been radically changed or even lost, and quarantine has isolated people further than the internet already had. Honestly, there seemed to be more darkness hanging over the last twelve months than most any other time I can remember.
For me, work came home and went remote. The search for a church home in Columbus...

My friend lost her Bible at church last week after an outdoor service. When she went back to find it, she didn’t. It was gone. She checked lost and found the next week. Not there. Then, the cover turned up. It had been placed on the recycling bun. It appeared to have been ripped from the spine! The guts were nowhere to be found.
The Bible had been a present from her sister. It had all her underlines and notes. It...

There are seasons where everything feels hard.
They come and go.

As the pandemic has lingered on, I have consistently looked outside my office window to check the weather and read the ticker at the bottom of my news feed.
Seems so arbitrary, right?
After all, I have absolutely no control over either of those. In fact, if I am being honest, I would tell you...

One of our family’s new COVID pastimes has been watching “WandaVision” on Disney+ every Friday night. For the first time, our kids get to experience what it’s like to wait an entire week for the next episode. Our 12-year-old even has a name for it – “Family Fun Night,” which consists of driving to pick up food, then turning around to drive back home and eat it. The highlight is then sitting on the couch to watch the continuing saga...
Humor in the Book of Jonah

There may be no more misunderstood book of the Bible than Jonah. We know that Jonah was a prophet. We know that Jonah lives for three days in the belly of a huge fish. We even know that Jonah’s message to the Ninevites prompted them all to repent and believe in the God of Israel. What we don’t seem to know is that the Book of Jonah is hilarious.
And not unintentionally hilarious. Jonah, by all accounts, seems to be written...
