Jesus on Every Page, Well, At Least This Page

Not that it matters much to the story, but as we were listening to this guy, we were inside a 2,000+ year cave-home in Bethlehem. Like the Jesus Bethlehem. He was telling us about caves and mangers which eventually led to him somehow getting on the topic of names and that the Hebrew word for Joshua means God saves.

I had heard that before. I had heard that Jesus was the Greek pronunciation of Joshua. But this guy, who was Aramaic said that Joshua and Jesus were slightly different. He said Joshua, or Yehoshua, means what we had heard it means, “God saves.” But that Jesus, or Yeshua, was actually the noun form, in other words: “salvation.”

I jotted that down in my notes, not thinking too much about it, until a week later I was reading Psalm 119 in the Message version of the Bible. In Psalm 119 in the 41^st verse of the Message it says this: “Let your love, God, shape my life with salvation.” I thought to myself, “Huh, I wonder…”

So I went to my trusty dusty Hebrew Lexicon and sure enough salvation is yeshua. Psalm 119 literally says: “Let your love, God, shape my life with Jesus.”

I have heard it before that Jesus is on every page of Scripture, and I understand what the people mean when they say such that. What I’m saying is that Jesus IS actually on the page of Psalm 119. How about that?
