Heart Cry

Heart Cry

Father, I need to know you. I need to understand the mystery of this Gospel. I know a lot about you Father. I know of your Son and your Spirit. And yet I am without understanding. In all my knowledge, I know not. In all my answers, I am without answer. So, I am no longer satisfied with a conceptual or ideological understanding. I need the real thing.

A hurricane just hit the east coast of the US. Very few people in Sweden have ever experienced that directly. And yet, when you say hurricane (or “orkan” in Swedish) they know exactly what I speak of. They know what a hurricane is and what it does and maybe even the weather patterns that cause one.

But, until they see the waves crashing through their front yard fence and filling the entire first floor of their home or watch the wind wipe away hundred-year old trees, they cannot fully understand. Experience peels back the final layer to knowledge that opens to understanding. We may well know about hurricanes, or Jesus Christ, but we will not indeed know a hurricane, or the person of Jesus Christ, itself until it, or he, comes close and invades our lives.

So Father, I beg you, I plead with you. Come close today. In this very room. In rooms around the world. In every nation. Among all languages and cultures and socioeconomic brackets. Come and show us who you are. I need to know you and the mystery of this Gospel. I need to be hit hard with the hurricane of your truth, your love, and your Spirit. I want to be a steward of the mysteries of God like Paul.

Today and everyday.

Only you can do it.

Come and do it, I pray.
