Post: Creation Rehearses Easter

For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.
Isaiah 61:11 ESV

Every year it happens almost quietly.

The air softens. The light lingers a little longer in the evening. Trees that looked lifeless only weeks before begin to show small green buds. What once seemed barren slowly fills with color again.

Spring returns.

For centuries people have watched this change and sensed something deeper than a shift in the weather. Spring feels like a promise. The earth itself tells a story about life coming out of what once looked like death.

Isaiah used this exact picture when describing the work of God. He pointed to the garden. Seeds disappear beneath the soil. For a time nothing can be seen. It can even appear as though the seed has been lost. But beneath the surface something quiet and powerful is happening.

Then one day the ground breaks open with new life.

Isaiah says this is how the Lord works in the world. God causes righteousness and praise to rise the same way a garden brings forth its sprouts. His work may seem hidden for a time. It may even appear as though nothing is happening. But the life of God is never absent. He is always preparing the next season of growth.

Spring reminds us that God is always doing more than we can see.

The ground in winter looks empty. Yet life is already forming beneath the surface.

The same is true in the story of redemption. The cross looked like defeat. Jesus was placed in a tomb. Hope appeared buried. To the watching world it looked like the end of the story.

But God was already preparing the greatest spring the world has ever known.

Easter morning was the moment the seed broke through the soil. The stone rolled away. The grave opened. Life burst forth where death once stood. The resurrection of Jesus was not just a miracle in one moment of history. It was the beginning of a new creation.

Just as Isaiah promised, God caused righteousness and praise to spring up before the nations.

Each year when the earth begins to bloom again, creation quietly echoes that same message. Winter does not have the final word. Death does not have the final word. God specializes in bringing life out of places that once seemed finished.

This is why spring feels hopeful even to people who cannot explain why. The world is rehearsing the story of Easter.

Where Christ reigns, life always returns.

The budding trees preach it. The blooming flowers declare it. The warming sun whispers it.

New life is coming.

As Easter approaches, the arrival of spring invites us to remember that the resurrection is not only something we celebrate once a year. It is the pattern of the kingdom of God. What looks buried will rise again. What seems lifeless will bloom.

Because the risen Christ is still bringing new life into the world.

And just like the garden Isaiah described, God is still causing righteousness and praise to grow.
